How to make…Paddy’s Day Hat Pencil Holder

As made in Mullingar with Grace, 16th March 2019

You Will Need:
Lollipop Sticks (plain or coloured)
Toilet/Kitchen Roll Insert
White Paper
Gems/decorations etc.
Markers/colours and Paint
Glue and Scissors
Hot-glue Gun

Instructions:
1. Cut out a square of white paper and use this as a base, sticking lollipop sticks onto it, covering the entire square and then leave to dry. Make sure to use plenty of glue. This is to be the base of your holder
2. Take your toilet role insert and glue lollipop sticks vertically up it, all around it. This makes the body of your pencil holder. Again, plenty of glue is needed to keep the sticks from falling off
3. Once the base and body of the holder are ready, use hot glue to attach them together, creating your hat shape. (An adult will have to do that bit )
4. Now you can paint/colour and decorate your holder
5. Cut out a strip of the white paper and colour it in. Then wrap it around the base of the toilet roll insert part. This is the belt on the hat. Then use a square of white paper that you have coloured as the buckle for the belt
6. Now allow it to dry and then fill your holder with all of your bits and bobs!
